Welcome to my site on Garthwaite Family History
I first started looking into my family history in 2005, using the GenesReunited website to document my findings. Soon the additional information I gathered started to mount up, but was unorganised and unrecorded on any database. In 2006 I decided to create this website to organise and publish my research.
Information is organised under four main headings, Origin, Records, Locations and Family Listing. Some of the information is specific to my branch of the Garthwaite family, but I have also included transcripts of all Garthwaite birth and marriage indices to 1901. Death indices have been transcribed to 1983.
I've updated the site design for 2008. The Family Listing and Person Detail pages have been re-written in PHP so they work more effectively than the previous version that displayed the XML database file directly. The new main navigation menu is courtesy of CSS Play and the Locations page image map has been replaced by the Google Maps API as it provides more features, has greater accuracy and will easily accommodate numerous locations. The header and footer picture is the view from Ilkley Moor, taken 21st November 2007.
